All scholarships listed below require you to complete the general Normandale Scholarship Application, unless otherwise stated. Scholarships with separate applications or different award processes have that listed in their description.

Aftab Hasnain Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Tara and Raza Hasnain to provide financial support for students in need who are interested in pursuing an education at Normandale Community College interested in theatre or the arts.

Enrolled for a full academic year
Minimum enrollment of 12 credits per semester

Alice Seagren Scholarship

This scholarship has been established through the generosity of Alice and Fred Seagren to provide financial support for students pursuing a career in Math or Science. This scholarship can be awarded to a new or returning student.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Enrolled in math or science classes

Preference given to:

Students working toward teaching math or science

Anthropology/Archaeology Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship was created by retired Anthropology faculty member Dr. Susan Krook, who taught at Normandale from 1990 until her retirement in 2024. It will be funded by ongoing contributions from former students and instructors who belong to Normandale's Anthropology Alumni Club. This scholarship is designed to provide financial support for Normandale students pursuing degrees in Anthropology to encourage their studies and inspire them to achieve their goals in Anthropology/Archaeology either at Normandale, four-year institutions, or related private sector businesses.

Eligibility Criteria:

Student is majoring in Anthropology and/or Archaeology

Preference given to:

Students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Students who indicate an interest in pursuing Anthropology and/or Archaeology at a four-year institution or as a career

Audrey Wiebold Memorial Endowed Hospitality Scholarship

Financial need
Minimum enrollment of 12 credits
Enrolled in the Hospitality Program

Students with a desire to work in food service management

Audrey Wiebold Memorial Endowed Reading Scholarship

John Wiebold and Hillary Panowitsch set up this scholarship in memory of their daughter Audrey, who earned an AA degree at Normandale. Audrey was a chef and had dreamed of using her love of food to craft a career in the hospitality field. This award is targeted for Reading students who are enrolled in developmental reading as part of an English class.

Eligibility Criteria:

Financial need
Minimum enrollment of 12 credits
Enrolled in an English Integrated Reading & Writing course (during semester of nomination)

BELIEVE Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Diane Wussow, a Normandale nursing alumna who believes that there should be more nurses who reflect the population they're serving.

Eligibility Criteria:

Student is enrolled in Normandale's Nursing Program
Student identifies as underrepresented in higher education. These students include but are not limited to those with mental or physical limitations, veterans, and first-generation college students.

Biology Department Endowed Scholarship

As a professor of biology, Ann Heuschele understood the value of a community college education. Dr. Heuschele was a professor in Normandale's Biology Department, and she understood that education was a gift to be valued. She would want to ensure that other students, particularly non-traditional students, have the opportunity to gain the education necessary to build a solid career. Because of this belief, Dr. Heuschele's family established an endowment in her memory to provide scholarships for biology students at Normandale.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 OR 2.75 in Fall Semester 2025
Completed a college-level biology course with a grade of B or above OR is currently enrolled in a biology course

Bloomington Minnesota Travel & Tourism Scholarship

Established through the generosity of Bloomington Minnesota Travel and Tourism, this scholarship provides support for students enrolled in Normandale's Hospitality Program.

Eligibility Criteria:

Enrolled in Hospitality Program
Minimum GPA of 2.5

Bloomington Optimist Club Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Bloomington Optimist Club to support Normandale students.

Eligibility Criteria:

Financial need
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Evidence of leadership experience
Evidence of volunteer experience

Bloomington residents

Bloomington Rotary Achievement Scholarship

This scholarship was established to support graduates of Bloomington Jefferson and Bloomington Kennedy High Schools who attend Normandale. The Normandale Foundation matches the scholarship amount awarded in the fall for spring semester.

Eligibility Criteria:

Graduate of Bloomington Jefferson High School or Bloomington Kennedy High School

Bruce Lindgren Biology Scholarship

This scholarship was established in the name of founding Normandale biology faculty member Bruce Lindgren. The scholarship was revived in 2026 after Bruce's passing to be awarded one more time in his memory.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Bryant Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Bernie Bryant, former Normandale Community College Interim President, to provide financial support for students who are single parents.

CareyOn Semester/Summer Study Abroad Scholarship

Participants who are enrolled degree-seeking Normandale students and planning to participate in a travel class may apply to and receive up to three different scholarships. Students do not need to be confirmed on a program to apply for a scholarship. This scholarship was originally established in memory of Joyce Carey, a Normandale Community College instructor who loved to travel.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be a Normandale Community College student
Must be planning to study abroad for a full semester or summer term on an approved Study Abroad program

Chemistry Department Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the Normandale Community College Chemistry faculty to provide financial support for students pursuing coursework in Chemistry.

Eligibility Criteria:

Pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry Education, Food Science, and/or Materials Science
Currently enrolled in, or have completed CHEM 1061 by the end of Spring Semester 2026 with a grade B or higher
Must enroll in one of the following in Fall Semester 2026 or Spring Semester 2027:
- CHEM 1062
- CHEM 2000-level course
Minimum GPA of 3.0 in Chemistry courses

Preference given to:

Students with financial need.

Chorzempa Family Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Chorzempa Family Foundation to provide financial support for students pursuing a four-year degree and are involved with volunteer activities.

Eligibility Criteria:

Plan to enroll at NCC for the full academic year
Financial need with FAFSA or Dream Act submitted (unless students are international)
Minimum enrollment of 12 credits per semester
Commitment to pursue a four-year degree
Good academic standing
Description of volunteer activities needed

Community Dental Care Scholarship

Scholarship established to support Dental Hygiene students with a desire to pursue public health dentistry after graduation.

Eligibility Criteria:

Accepted into the Dental Hygiene Program at Normandale

Passion for serving the community
Desire to pursue public health dentistry after graduation
Desire to work in an urban area after graduation

Dale Brown AA Art Scholarship

This scholarship was established by a retired art faculty member to support students declaring an AA Major with an Art Emphasis.

Eligibility Criteria:

Student is not seeking an AFA Degree/Major
Must have completed a minimum of 3 art classes at Normandale
Has declared major as AA Art Emphasis

Dani Sommerdorf Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established through a Phi Theta Kappa Honors Study Topic in memory of Dani Sommerdorf to encourage individuals in recovery to start or continue their education at Normandale Community College.

Eligibility Criteria:

Currently enrolled at Normandale Community College
Has been in addiction recovery for one year or more
Minimum enrollment of 6 credits
Open to new and returning students
Submit contact information for a sponsor/counselor to complete a letter of recommendation (within general application)

De Oliveira Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Calleen De Oliveira, a Normandale nursing alumna, to assist students currently accepted into the Nursing Program at Normandale.

Dental Hygiene Faculty and Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Normandale Community College Dental Hygiene Department to provide financial support for students accepted into Normandale's Dental Hygiene Program.

Currently enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program
Enrolled as a second-year student during the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded

The scholarship was established by the Park Dental Foundation to support dental hygiene students at Normandale.

Disabled American Veterans Minneapolis Chapter No. 1 Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the Disabled American Veterans, Minneapolis Chapter. This scholarship provides financial support for benefit-eligible veterans to promote supervision and management skills.

Eligibility Criteria:

Prior service in, Veteran of, or retired from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces; honorable discharge
Minimum enrollment of 6 credits

Don Reznicek Endowed Chemistry Scholarship

This scholarship was established in honor of Don Reznicek who taught in the Chemistry Department for 42 years and was the Foundation's first-ever donor. This scholarship provides financial support for students pursuing coursework in Chemistry.

This scholarship is awarded to one of the recipients of the Chemistry Department Scholarship. Please see the Chemistry Department Scholarship for eligibility criteria.

Donald and Ramona Johnstone Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established as a memorial to Donald and Ramona Johnstone. This scholarship provides financial support for students pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical or medical field, with a preference toward veterans.

Eligibility Criteria:

Student is pursuing science courses or majors, which may lead to a career in the field of pharmacy, dental hygiene, or the medical field

Students with cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher

Dr. J. Premanand Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Drs. Visvanatha and Jayaseetha Premanand to provide financial support for students pursuing math courses at Normandale Community College.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum completion of 20 credits
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and
Minimum GPA of 3.0 in all Math classes
Minimum enrollment of 10 credits

Elisabeth Rosenberg Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established through the generosity of Elisabeth Rosenberg, former Normandale Community College professor. This scholarship provides financial support for non-traditional students at Normandale Community College.

Ernie and Jeanne Lindstrom Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Ernie and Jeanne Lindstrom to provide financial support for students residing in the Richfield area.

Plan to enroll at Normandale Community College for the full academic year
Minimum enrollment of 6 credits per semester

Resident of Richfield area (Minnesota)

Excellence in Theatre Scholarship

This scholarship was established to provide financial support to a talented student who is interested in pursuing a career in professional and/or academic theatre.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must demonstrate a high level of achievement in theatre theory and practice in either performance or production and design
Completed a minimum of two semesters of study at Normandale Community College
Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale with a 3.0 in theatre courses
Finalists may be asked to perform an audition and/or interview

Notes:

The Normandale Scholarship Application must be completed by May 17, 2026 to qualify
The recipient is required to participate in theatre recruitment activities as a part of the award

Felicity Abby Jane Mathieu Art Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Normandale Community College Art Department in memory of Felicity Abby Jane Mathieu, daughter of Normandale Community College's former vice president David Mathieu. This scholarship provides financial support to students pursuing a degree in art.

Eligibility Criteria:

Returning student in Fall of 2026
Minimum GPA of 3.0 in Art Program classes
Declared AFA in Art Major
Minimum completion of 9 art credits

Fred Moyer Merit Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of friends in memory of Fred Moyer, Normandale Community College Football Coach. This scholarship provides financial support to students who are majoring in exercise science and demonstrate outstanding responsibility both in and out of the classroom.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be an Exercise Science major in the Normandale A.S. degree program OR be a student in Exercise Science classes
Minimum GPA of 3.5
Have demonstrated behaviors that reflect the values of Normandale's Mission: Service, Excellence, Inclusiveness, and Learning
Preference for students who are active members in Normandale's Exercise Science Club

Fund Your Journey Scholarship

The Fund Your Journey Scholarship assists students enrolled in academic travel programs. It supports students by funding some of the travel costs of their program.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be a Normandale Community College student
Must be planning to participate in an academic travel program

Gordon and Neoma Herrboldt Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Brooks Herrboldt, a retired faculty member in Normandale's economics department, in honor of his parents Gordon and Neoma.

Eligibility Criteria:

Has successfully completed a Normandale economics course with a grade of C or better or is currently enrolled in a Normandale economics course
Minimum college GPA of 2.5

Jane Burkleo Music Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Minneapolis Foundation in memory of Jane Burkleo to provide financial support for students pursuing music.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled in at least one music ensemble class

Jason Horak Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established by former Normandale Community College President Tom and Beverly Horak in memory of their son Jason Horak. This scholarship provides financial support for full-time students who have endured past struggles (academically and/or in life).

Eligibility Criteria:

Plan to enroll at Normandale Community College for the full academic year
Minimum enrollment of 12 credits per semester
Achieve a GPA of 2.5 or higher
Evidence of past struggles (academic and/or life) and shows promise of long-term academic success

Application Requirements:

Create a realistic academic and career plan with their counselor by the end of the semester

Jay L. Rushing Scholarship

Linda Amaikwu-Rushing established this scholarship in 2026 in memory of her late husband Jay L. Rushing.

Eligibility Criteria:

Identifies as underrepresented in higher education. This includes but is not limited to those with mental or physical limitations, veterans, and first-generation college students.

Jim & Linda Wallace Endowed Theatre Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established through the generosity of Jim and Linda Wallace. Jim was a founding theatre instructor at Normandale Community College. This scholarship provides financial support for students enrolled in theatre classes and participating in each theatre production.

Eligibility Criteria:

Demonstrates exceptional promise in one or more areas of theatre such as Acting, Technical Theatre or Design, or Stage Management
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Minimum enrollment of 9 credits during the scholarship period
Finalists may be asked to perform an audition and/or interview

The Normandale Scholarship Application must be completed by May 17, 2025 to qualify
The recipient is required to participate in theatre recruitment activities as a part of the award

Joan P. Spivey Endowed Memorial Math Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Joan Spivey, former Normandale Community College Math Professor. It provides financial support for students enrolled in Normandale Community College's developmental math course.

Eligibility Criteria:

Initial student enrollment at the 601 level (eligible for developmental math)
Successful completion of "0700 proficiency" level of developmental math in two semesters or fewer
Enrolled in Math 1100 immediately subsequent to semester in which "0700 proficiency" is obtained

Submit letter of recommendation from a Normandale Math Center Instructor

Joe Opatz Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Joseph Opatz, former Normandale Community College President, to provide financial support for students in good academic standing and who are in need of financial assistance.

John Chalberg Scholarship

This scholarship was established in honor of Normandale Community College history instructor John Chalberg and will provide financial support for students who feel awakened to learning because of a history class or instructor.

John E. Desmond and Janet C. Desmond Foundation 'Success Through Perseverance Scholarship'

This scholarship was established through the generosity of John E. and Janet C. Desmond Foundation to provide financial support for students who persevere despite hardships, obstacles, or lack of resources.

Eligibility Criteria:

Maintain good academic standing
Student is succeeding through perseverance or shows promise despite hardships, obstacles, or lack of resources

Judith Pett Outstanding Literature Student Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of retired Normandale Community College women who gather to share their love of reading. This scholarship provides financial support for students in need. It was renamed in 2023 after the death of Judith Pett, a former English faculty member who taught at Normandale for 20 years.

Judy was a gourmet cook and an avid reader who enjoyed sharing her love of learning with her family and friends. Above all, she was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, sister, friend, and "Baba." She is deeply missed.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students are nominated and selected by the Normandale Community College English Department
Student must be attending NCC at the time of the award

Kopp Family Presidential Scholarship

Established by Lee and Barb Kopp to provide financial support for Normandale Community College students.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum enrollment of 10 credits
Minimum GPA of 2.50

MacDonald Geology/Geography Achievement Award

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Doug and Sharon MacDonald. Doug is a retired instructor from Normandale Community College in the Geology/Geography Department. This scholarship provides financial support to students enrolled in a Geology or Geography class.

Eligibility Criteria:

Enrolled in a Geology or Geography class during the semester in which they apply for the award
Must have completed or concurrently be enrolled in at least 12 credits
Cannot have already received this award in a previous semester

Mains'l Make a Difference Award

This scholarship was established to support Normandale Health Science students preparing to make a difference in the lives of others.

Mains'l provides services for individuals and families by assisting people to live successfully in their homes and communities. Individualized planning and services promote empowerment and assists in the attainment of life goals. Additionally, Mains'l works with agencies and groups providing training and support to enhance their ability to optimize their performance.

Eligibility Criteria:

Degree/certificate selections in Community Healthcare Worker-Navigator, Exercise Science, Dietetic Technology, Community Health Education, or Healthcare Systems Technology

Marion L. Johnson Endowed Reading Scholarship

This annual scholarship is created honoring the life of Marion L. Johnson. Marion was an elementary school teacher whose love of reading drove her passion to teach others to read. Marion believed reading was not only an essential life skill but also a gift for unlocking knowledge and other worlds for her students. Her daughter, Nancy M. Johnson EdD, wishes to honor her mother’s passion for reading by creating this legacy scholarship for Normandale students who share a hunger to discover, explore and learn the power of reading.

This scholarship was established by the Math and Computer Science departments at Normandale Community College to provide financial support to students pursuing a career in Mathematics or Computer Science.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be currently enrolled at Normandale Community College with the intention to earn an AS or BS degree
To be eligible for the Mathematics award, the recipient must have completed at least one 2000-level math or computer science course during the year the award is granted
To be eligible for the Computer Science award, the recipient must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and 3.75 GPA in math or computer science courses

Notes:

Students are nominated and awarded at the discretion of the Math and Computer Science Departments. Students are selected and awarded in late spring. Students do not apply for this award.

Metro Dentalcare/Heartland Dental Hygiene Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarship support for students at Normandale Community College who are interested in pursuing a degree in Dental Hygiene.

Eligibility Criteria:

Currently enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program
Enrolled as a second-year student during the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded

Mooney Materials Science Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Thomas Mooney, a Normandale alum, to provide financial support to students pursuing a career in Materials Science.

Minimum GPA of 3.5
Considering pursuing a degree in Materials Science

Recipients of this scholarship have the opportunity to receive additional funds from the Philip Danielson Scholarship, if they enroll in the required Vacuum Technology courses the following semester.

MSCF - Faculty Union Scholarship for Student Success

This scholarship was established by the MSCF Faculty Union to support Normandale students.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum completion of 12 credits at Normandale
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Minimum enrollment of 12 credits per semester
Must be a degree-seeking student
Must be in good academic standing

Music Department Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established to provide financial support for students pursuing a music degree.

Eligibility Criteria:

Awarded annually to students demonstrating outstanding musicianship
Must enroll in a music department ensemble
College GPA of 3.0 or High School GPA of 3.2
Complete audition with the Music Department

Myles E. Johnson Psychology Scholarship

This scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Myles Johnson, former Normandale Community College instructor, to provide financial support for students interested in Psychology. This $1,500 scholarship is intended to encourage students to continue their education at Normandale Community College and to take an advanced (2000-level) course in Psychology to further explore the field.

Eligibility Criteria:
At the end of Spring Semester 2026, students must:

Have completed 12 credits at Normandale
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
Have completed Introduction to Psychology (PSYC 1110) with a grade of C or higher at Normandale or another institution
Have financial need, as determined by FAFSA
Enroll as a student at Normandale in a 2000-level Psychology course during the fall or spring semester of the following academic year

Application Requirements:

Complete the general application, including the Psychology Department section
Have completed the FAFSA

Previous recipients are ineligible.
PSEO students are ineligible for academic scholarships.

Nancy Stein Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Nancy Stein, Normandale Community College World Languages instructor. This scholarship provides financial support for students who have been out of high school or college for four years.

Not enrolled in high school or college for the past four years

Minimum enrollment of 6 credits

Nelson-Brinkman Business Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Joan Nelson and Ted Brinkman to provide financial support to students pursuing an Business degree.

Preference given to:

Students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Students with financial need

This scholarship was established by the retired staff at Normandale Community College to provide financial support for students who are ineligible to receive any other funding.

Peggy Kelly Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Peggy Kelly to provide financial support for students residing in Bloomington, Richfield, or Edina area.

Phi Theta Kappa All-Minnesota Academic Team Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by the Phi Theta Kappa Advisors to students who are participating in Normandale Community College's Phi Theta Kappa Program. The Normandale Foundation funds these awards.

Normandale nominee to the All-USA competition through Phi Theta Kappa
Students meet all requirements for the All-USA Scholarship Application

Philip Danielson Vacuum Technology Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Philip and Doris Danielson to provide financial support to students pursuing a career in Vacuum Tech or Engineering.

Enrolled in VACT or ENGT course at Normandale Community College
Grade of "C" or better in any previous VACT OR ENGT courses
Courses limited to Technical Courses required for Credential in Vacuum

Pinsonneault Music Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established through the generosity of retired music instructor Ona Pinsonneault and her husband Wayne. This scholarship provides financial support for students enrolled in an AFA Music degree program.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum GPA of 3.0
Full-time student enrolled in AFA Music degree program
Good academic standing
Complete audition with the Music Department

Psychology Scholarship for Underrepresented Students

This scholarship is intended to encourage underrepresented students who have progressed in the study of Psychology at Normandale to take an advanced (2000-level) course to further their exploration of the field. This $1,000-1,500 scholarship is intended to support underrepresented students taking an advanced (2000-level) course to further their exploration of the field. These students include but are not limited to those with mental or physical limitations, veterans, and first-generation college students.

Eligibility Criteria:

Be enrolled in at least one 2000-level Psychology course at Normandale during Spring Semester and earn a grade of C or higher in at least one such course
Have completed at least 8 credits at Normandale
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 by the end of Spring Semester
Have financial need, as determined by FAFSA
Enroll as a student at Normandale during fall semester of the following academic year
Self-identify as an underrepresented student in the general application

Application Requirements:

Complete the general application, including the Psychology Department section
Complete the FAFSA

Quinn R. Walsh Recovery Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Dori Walsh, mother of Quinn Richard Walsh, in his memory. Quinn was recovering from addiction into his sixth year. He passed on September 3, 2023. He was a son, a brother, a relative, and most importantly, a loving and proud father to his 12-year-old daughter. He managed a retail store, attended church regularly, led bible study, and had returned to study at Normandale in the fall of 2023. His family is focused on providing an educational opportunity with this scholarship in Quinn's memory. They want another individual who is needing this help to succeed with health, happiness, and success.

Eligibility Criteria:

Returning adult student (out of high school for a minimum of 10 years)
Has been in recovery for at least 5 years

Rask Family Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the Rask Family Foundation to provide financial support to students pursuing a career in elementary or special education.

Realize Your Journey Scholarship

The Realize Your Journey Scholarship assists students enrolled in academic travel programs. It supports two students per travel class with extremely high need by funding the majority of the program costs.

Must be a Normandale Community College student
Must be planning to participate in an academic travel program
High financial need

Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and Friends Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Normandale Community College and friends who support the mission of the Peace Corps. This scholarship provides financial support as well as a service to Normandale students to encourage volunteerism and to promote international understanding.

You do not need to be a returned Peace Corps volunteer to apply.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be a returning student with at least 12 credits earned at Normandale Community College
Must have a record of volunteerism and international travel/competency
Minimum GPA of 2.0
Must meet at least one of the following:
- Completed a course at Normandale (other than a foreign language) with an international emphasis (meets Goal 8 of MnTC) and earned a grade of A or B
- Traveled, studied, or lived abroad

Robert Erickson Part-Time Endowed Scholarship

In 2012, Robert and Nancy Erickson established an annual scholarship designed to support part-time students who must work and pursue an education at the same time. This endowed award is designed to carry that intention into perpetuity.

Eligibility Criteria:

Part-time student (enrolled in fewer than 12 credits per semester)
Must be a working student
Financial need
Good academic standing

Robert Farley Ogden Endowed Scholarship

This award was established by the family of the late Robert Farley Ogden and supports an annual scholarship for a student in need attending Normandale Community College. This award honors the memory of the late Mr. Ogden, who attended Normandale late in life as a non-traditional student. His belief in the community of friends and learners attending Normandale lives on through this annual scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

Plan to attend for the full academic year
Minimum enrollment of 6 credits per semester
Is a single head of household (single parent)

Ruth and Adrian Kwait Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Ruth Kwait as a legacy gift. Her intent was that the scholarship would be utilized to provide educational assistance to those students most deserving and in need of such assistance to attain further education.

Sociology and Women's Studies Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the Normandale Community College Social Science faculty to provide financial support for students who are pursuing a degree in Sociology and/or Women's Studies. Recipients of this award should demonstrate commitment to community service and/or social justice.

Minimum completion of 12 credits

Stan Magnuson Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Stan Magnuson. The scholarship provides financial support for the average student who shows great potential and has a financial need but does not qualify for other scholarships. This can be awarded to new or returning students.

Eligibility Criteria:

Award to an "average student" with great potential
Has financial need but may not qualify for scholarships
No other restrictions by donor's request

Start Your Journey Deposit Scholarship

Participants who are enrolled degree-seeking Normandale students and planning to participate in a travel class may apply to and receive up to three different scholarships. Students do not need to be confirmed on a program to apply for a scholarship.

The Start Your Journey Deposit Scholarship assists students enrolled in academic travel programs at the beginning of the program enrollment process when the provider (tour operator or university) requires a deposit or application fee in order to reserve a place on the program. The Start Your Journey Deposit Scholarship is intended to help students who cannot otherwise immediately pay this deposit or application fee.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be a Normandale Community College student
Must be planning to participate in an academic travel program

Steve Sullivan Law Enforcement Scholarship

Diana Sullivan created this scholarship in memory of her late husband Steve Sullivan. Steve dedicated his life to serving his community and served as the Chief of Police for the cities of Bayport and Orono in Minnesota before retiring in 1995. After his retirement from the police force, Steve pursued his passion of educating the next generation of police officers. He became the coordinator of the Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement programs at Normandale in 1996 and remained in the role until his death in 2021.

Eligibility Criteria:

Pursuing a degree or career in Law Enforcement
Minimum enrollment of 6 credits

Team Wellness Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Normandale Community College Exercise Science, Health, and Dietetic Technology Departments. This scholarship provides financial support to students enrolling in Health, Exercise Science, or Dietetic Technology courses.

Minimum enrollment of 8 credits
Currently enrolled in and/or has completed at least one course in Health and one course in the Exercise Science Departments at Normandale
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75

TRIO Health Scholarship

This scholarship was established to support TRIO SSS students enrolled in Health Science programs.

Has completed at least one course required for their major with a grade of C or higher

Waldo Asp Endowed Scholarship

After Waldo Asp passed away in March of 2023, his dear friend Gunter Stein decided to establish an endowed scholarship in his name. Waldo was an original faculty member at Normandale, where he taught for 30 years. He initiated and ultimately became the department chair of the philosophy department. He also taught English, ethics, logic, and comparative religions. A strong work ethic and natural gregariousness were fundamental elements of Waldo's character. His greatest pleasure was derived from the camaraderie of sharing time and tasks with others.

Eligibility Criteria:

Financial need
Has completed at least two college-level philosophy courses with a passing grade

Preference given to:

Students who completed their philosophy courses at Normandale.

Workforce Development Scholarship

This scholarship is based on your participation in one of the eligible programs, and enrollment in at least 9 credits each semester. This scholarship is funded through the State of Minnesota, not the Normandale Foundation.

Students enrolled in a high-demand occupational program (diploma, certificate, or degree) leading to employment in one of six industry areas are eligible to receive a scholarship. The industry groups are: Advanced Manufacturing, Agriculture, Health Care Services, Information Technology, Early Childhood Education, and Transportation.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum enrollment of 9 credits per semester
Major is in one of the following areas: Education, Public Safety, Health Care Services, Information Technology, Early Childhood Education
Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

World Languages Department Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Normandale Community College World Languages Department to provide financial support for students enrolled in World Languages classes.

Eligibility Criteria:

Enrolled in a World Language Department course at Normandale Community College during Fall 2026
